St. Paddy’s day is just around the corner and while images of parades, green beer and corn beef and cabbage often spring to mind, don’t ignore a great chance for romance!
With all the snow being dumped on the East Coast, and plenty of chilly weather bringing in March in other parts of the country, why go outside when you can get cozy at home. Make up a nice fire in the living room (even artificial will do!), brew up some strong coffee, add a splash of Irish Cream and you are ready for a quiet, romantic evening.
I’ll put my recipe below, but if you’ve got an awesome Irish Coffee recipe, let me know in the comments.
Irish Coffee (the easy way)
1 cup (Irish coffee glass or mug cup) of strongly brewed coffee
1 shot glass (about 1.5 ounces) of Irish Cream (I like Baileys)
And the Irish Cream to the coffee, add a little whip cream at the top, if you like and you’re good to go.
If you’d like to read more about making Irish Coffee and want a recipe more true to its origins, check out this article from The Guardian: How to Make the Perfect Irish Coffee
The article offers up some interesting history about the drink and discusses the many ways of making Irish coffee. It insists on adding sugar. I figure if there’s romance in the air, that’s all the sweetness I need. But if you need some extra sugary goodness, read the different ways you can sweeten the drink.
Once you’ve created that perfect drink, don’t forget to top it off with a strong dash of romance (the whip cream can come later 😉 ). Do that and you’ll never forget the taste of Irish coffee or the memory of a very special romantic night.
